Yes, we feel that this is very important. The translator becomes your “German voice”. It’s confusing for the reader if the voice suddenly changes. We were told by a friend that she stopped reading a mystery series because she didn’t like the style of the new translations; obviously, there had been a change of translators after the third book. Interestingly enough, fans do notice things like that.
It’s the main reason why we are not setting up an agency — we want to be hands-on translators.
