Amazon.de has recently teamed with the major German newspaper/tabloid BILD to publish weekly charts of the top 20 books in a series called “The true bestsellers – what Germans really read.” BILD has a considerable following, selling roughly 2.2 million copies a day; its online version attracts some 18 million unique visitors a month.
The charts are divided into fiction and non-fiction and factor in both e-book and print book sales on amazon.de. They also provide direct links to these books on the German Amazon site, generating additional revenues for BILD through affiliate links.
The first top 20 list featured six self-published fiction titles, a number of them in translation.
What a great free marketing opportunity for any author who manages to get their book on this list!
